Vineyard: A DISTINCTIVE BLEND FROM KLAU MINE VINEYARD IN THE ADELAIDA DISTRICT, THIS WINE IS COMPOSED OF 49% TANNAT, 27% CABERNET SAUVIGNON, AND 24% PETIT VERDOT. KLAU MINE VINEYARD IS THE FURTHEST SOURCE OF FRUIT FOR OUR WINERY FROM THE ADELAIDA DISTRICT, AND ITS UNIQUE TERRIOR AND PROXIMITY CONTRIBUTE TO THE STRUCTURED PROFILE OF THIS WINE.

wINEMAKING: PRIMARY FERMENTATION TOOK PLACE IN UPRIGHT FOUDRE WITH ON-SKIN FERMENTATION. ALL THE GRAPES WERE HARVESTED ON THE SAME DAY AND CO FERMENTED FROM THE VERY BEGINNING. THE WINES AGED IN A COMBINATION OF 25% NEW AMERICAN OAK AND 75% NEUTRAL OAK, AND AFTER FERMENTATION, IT WAS RACKED INTO ONE LARGE FORMAT FOR FINAL AGING.

From Eric Guido: Peppery rose, and wild strawberries are complemented by hints of shaved cedar as the 2022 Grenache/Syrah blend Chrisy & Wise blossoms in the glass. This is remarkably pretty, with a savory core of minerality and cool-toned red and blue fruits that swirl throughout. Hints of tart blackberry and citrus linger as the 2022 finishes gently tannic and spicy yet fresh.

Vineyard: THIS WINE COMES FROM CHRISTY & WISE VINEYARD IN STA. RITA HILLS OWNED BY THE SAME OWNERS OF DUVARITA. THE VINEYARD IS CERTIFIED ORGANIC AND BIODYNAMIC, NESTLED NEAR LOMPOC AND THE COAST. WITH A COOLER CLIMATE, APPROXIMATELY 20 DEGREES COOLER THAN PASO ROBLES, THE REGION IS KNOWN FOR ITS LONG RIPENING SEASOn. ORIGINALLY A PINOT NOIR AND CHARDONNAY TERRITORY, MORE GRENACHE IS EMERGING FROM THESE SOILS. The christy & wise bottling is an excellent representation of where lone madrone is heading as the next generation of the family begins to spread its wings.
