About the Grape:
Melon de Bourgogne is a white grape primarily grown in the Loire Valley of France. As its name suggests, it originated in Burgundy — and DNA analysis has revealed it to be a cross between Pinot Blanc and Gouais Blanc.
This unique and lesser-known varietal in California produces lean, mineral, and saline-driven wines that beautifully reflect their terroir — and this bottling from Chalone AVA is a true standout. Notes of white peach, meringue, and sea spray mingle with its bright acidity and stony minerality, making it a must-have for those who appreciate elegant, expressive whites that pair effortlessly with seafood and coastal cuisine.
